Shopping online? Here’s what you need to know.

There are plenty of grocery delivery and pickup options to browse. Here’s a guide to what some retailers offer:

To note: Aldi, Costco, Sam’s Club, Hy-Vee and other marketplaces use Instacart for certain services when fulfilling online orders for curbside pickup and delivery. Services are limited to store hours and gratuities are suggested.

  • Curbside: Some prices on Instacart may be different from in-store prices.
  • Shipping: Instacart shipping starts at $3.99 for same-day orders of $35 or more, but fees vary. Requires a minimum order of $10.
  • Accept SNAP? Yes.

Instacart also offers monthly and yearly subscriptions that waive delivery charges on orders over $35.

  • Curbside: Curbside pickup is free with a minimum purchase of $30. Pickup is available within three hours of ordering Monday through Saturday from all locations.
  • Delivery: Not currently, but may be a future offer.
  • Accept SNAP? Not now. Fareway says it is working to adopt EBT/SNAP into its system.
  • Curbside: Pickup is free with a minimum order of $24.95 at select Hy-Vee stores. Pickup is available within two hours for an additional $9.95.
  • Shipping: Minimum order $24.95 and starts with $9.95 shipping. Suggested tips.
  • Accept SNAP? In certain places.
  • Curbside: Free with Plus subscription option. Pickup is available Monday through Saturday starting at 7 a.m. and requires no minimum order.
  • Shipping: Some items are available for shipping.
  • Accept SNAP? No.

  • Curbside: Free in all stores. Almost all Target locations deliver purchases to customers’ vehicles through its “Drive Up” service. Pickup is available within two hours of order placement, but some stores may take up to six hours to process the order.
  • Shipping: Available through the Shipt app with $9.99 shipping. A $99 annual subscription to Shipt provides free shipping on every Target order of $35 or more.
  • Accept SNAP? In certain places.
  • Curbside: Pickup is free and available within four hours of order placement. Orders placed after 4 p.m. will be available the following day.
  • Delivery: Available in select locations. Delivery charges vary depending on when groceries are ordered.
  • Accept SNAP? Yes.

  • Curbside: Pickup available for free daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in West Des Moines. Prime members are eligible for a free one-hour pickup in select cities.
  • Delivery: Available with an Amazon Prime membership and includes a $9.95 service fee.
  • Accept SNAP? No.
