2 killed after ramming semi-truck near La Tuna Canyon Road

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 19, 2022) – A crash on Tujunga on the left Modesto Talamantes and Thomas Ornelaz dead, Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on the westbound lanes of the freeway near La Tuna Canyon Road.

Footage from a news helicopter revealed a dark-colored vehicle crushed after it apparently hit the back of a large truck.

Due to the extent of the injuries sustained, the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the deaths of two people at the scene. Authorities identified the two occupants of the car, Ornelaz, 40, and Talamantes, 51, of San Fernando.

Meanwhile, authorities have issued a SigAlert for lanes No. 3 and No. 4 of the westbound freeway.

At this time, Los Angeles officials are working to identify other circumstances surrounding the crash.
