Maine’s first Odd and Unusual show is coming to Waterville on Saturday

WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) – A first-of-its-kind event is taking place in Waterville on Saturday.

Maine’s first Odd and Unusual show kicks off springtime events in Waterville. The show is hosted by Jessica Stetson, the owner of Old Soul Collectives, a vintage store in the heart of the city.

“I think it’s pretty cool that we’re able to create a place where people can come together and be around other people who share the same passions and interests,” Stetson said.

She has partnered with Misty Lane who owns and operates an online store called Hillbilly Furniture and Furs.

“There are a lot of us, I think we’re not really known because we don’t have a place to go to get what we want,” Lane said.

Just like the items sold at the two stores, there will be over 20 vendors at the event offering various unusual items.

“We’re going to have things like taxidermy—this old, antique medical equipment—specimens,” Lane said. “There are going to be crystals. There will be people selling bone art for something weird and unusual.

There will be a drinks bar and hourly door prizes during the event. Stetson said she hopes people have an open mind about the event

“I know not everyone likes taxidermy, what specimens, things like that, but we’re just normal people, we just like an eclectic mix of things life has to offer.”

Although this is the first year, Stetson says she expects many more.

“I’m excited to do this with misty and see if we can continue year after year.”
