It’s been nearly 24 years since a group of drillers was trained to go into space, rather than training astronauts to drill:

The marathon begins with the sequel to one of the best alien invasion movies of all time with Independence Day: Resurgence. The sequel sees the aliens return, bigger and better prepared for the planet after a few decades.

Earth is ready for an invasion this time, but not for the power it brings as David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) tries to navigate this new threat.

The next is Deep water horizon, the dramatized account of the true story of an unprecedented ecological threat at the time. Mike Williams (Mark Wahlberg) and his team try to save as many people as possible with a burning oil rig in the middle of the ocean.

The middle film of this marathon is Interstellarfeaturing a story about Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) as he travels through space in search of a new planet for a dying earth, but finds himself traveling through time to deliver a message to his daughter at the coming.

The marathon ends with the best film about drilling deep into the earth being more complicated than navigating space as Harry S. Stamper (Bruce Willis), AJ Frost (Ben Affleck) and a cast of characters save the planet in Armageddon.

Only the brave also features in this marathon on the channels off about a massive fire in Arizona in 2013 and the brave firefighters who worked to stop it.
