Friendly’s launches its first fast casual cafe

Friendly’s Restaurants Co. LLC, the family dining brand, has opened its first Friendly’s Café in Westfield, Mass., the company announced Tuesday.

The family-friendly dining brand based in Hauppauge, New York, said the 2,700-square-foot cafe, with 45 seats, includes four outdoor parking spaces dedicated to curbside pickup and ordering and payment by quick response code.

The fast-casual unit opened on February 26 with a menu of select Friendly dishes, including burgers, fondues, entrees and sundaes.

“Friendly’s Cafe will offer our tried-and-tested Friendly’s menu, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients, convenience, take-out and delivery in a fun and cheerful environment,” said Craig Erlich, CEO of Friendly’s Restaurants, in a statement.

“We envision Friendly’s Cafe as an opportunity for technological innovation and additional menu to meet the changing desires of our customers, while adhering to our mission to bring family and friends together around the table to create new memories,” said Erlich.

The company said customers have the option of ordering at the counter or via the QR code at their table, where orders are delivered.

“Customers will also be able to order food online in advance and pick up their items from the designated delivery area or have it delivered,” the company said.

The menu at Friendly’s Cafe features items such as Tater Kegs Appetizer, $100,000 Cobb Salad, Legendary Honey BBQ Chicken SuperMelt, Dorito’s Cool Ranch Chopped Cheeseburger, and Bangin’ Beef Stroganoff.

A grand opening is scheduled for April 6.

Friendly’s Restaurants Co. LLC, founded in 1935, has 130 full-service restaurants.

Dallas-based Amici Partners Group LLC acquired Friendly’s in January 2021 in a bankruptcy sale of assets.
